American Board of Orthodontics (ABO) certification is an achievement that U.S. orthodontists earn by completing 2-3 years of formal orthodontic residency training at a dental school or dental hospital in the United States that has been endorsed by the American Dental Association (ADA). This certification is granted upon successfully passing a final clinical examination. According to the American Board of Orthodontics' website under "Find a Board Certified Orthodontist", there were only 13 individuals in South Korea who had acquired ABO certification in orthodontics as of February 2022. Among regular members of the American Association of Orthodontists, only 54% had ABO certification. Additionally, ABO certification status carries significance when selecting professors for orthodontics departments at U.S. dental schools. This emphasis on ABO certification arises from the recognition that it signifies a high level of expertise and quality in orthodontic treatment.

I recently had a wonderful experience at UPenn Orthodontics and I am delighted to share my positive review. From the moment I stepped into the clinic, I was greeted by a team of exceptionally friendly and accommodating staff. Their warm welcome made me feel instantly comfortable and at ease. I was pleasantly surprised by the affordability of the services provided at UPenn Orthodontics. The prices were very reasonable compared to other orthodontic practices I had researched.

I never write reviews, but after the 6 years of terrible dentist experiences in Korea, I feel compelled to write a review of how AWESOME this dentist (UPENN Barun) is. I have lived in Korea (Seoul) for 6 years. This has been the first time, the only time, in my 6 years here that I've actually had a good, positive experience with a dentist in Korea.

Best dentist experience, I would definitely recommend. I was on holiday in Seoul when I got terrible toothache, after contacting this practice they were able to see me the same day, they did x-rays, clearly explained my options, and were able to perform the first stage of root canal (I had no pain during the procedure) that same day and prescribe antibiotics. They also contacted me the next day to check how I was.

One of my Korean friend recommended Upenn Bareun Dental clinic to me while I was staying in Seoul for my business trip. I wanted to straighten my crooked tooth and I saw the dentist for Invisalign. Unfortunately, my schedule didn't work for starting the Invisalign but I loved the dentist and the staff's kindness and professionalism. So, I decided to get whitening. I was really satisfied with the treatment and their help about tax refund.

This review is long overdue but not forgotten. I highly recommend this clinic (6 stars) to anyone especially foreigners who need to converse in English! Most of the staff speak good English plus a Dr who speaks proficient English. I felt very welcomed from my very first appointment. The receptionist who spoke in English was an angel, she made sure I got a tax refund, (I didn't even know I could do that).
